Practice Environment Description: Our endocrinology service operates within a collaborative outpatient-focused setting with inpatient consult responsibilities. This role offers a dynamic mix of outpatient endocrine care and inpatient consultations, with opportunities to work closely with interdisciplinary teams. The position is affiliated with UCI residency and fellowship programs, providing opportunities for teaching and clinical mentorship.
Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive evaluation and management of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disease, and metabolic conditions. Perform and interpret specialized procedures, including thyroid biopsy (preferred qualification). Deliver outpatient care with additional inpatient consult support as needed. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated care for Veterans. Participate in academic and training activities with residents and fellows.
Competitive Starting Annual Salary: Additionally, employees may be eligible to receive up to $15,000 in performance-based pay annually. Furthermore, employees can qualify for Proficiency Awards, which are available in addition to Pay for Performance incentives. Regular salary reviews will occur every two years, and all employees will receive cost-of-living adjustments annually.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Weekend call coverage is required and handled by phone.
Call Coverage: Rotating phone-based call coverage, including weekend responsibilities.
Academic Affiliations: Affiliated with University of California, Irvine (UCI) residency and fellowship programs. Opportunities to teach, mentor, and supervise trainees in a clinical setting.
Qualifications:
D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school (or ECFMG certification for international graduates).
Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Endocrinology.
Preferred: Experience with thyroid biopsy procedures.
