The Eating Disorders Treatment Center offers a warm, safe and friendly atmosphere -- a special place to heal for people who have eating disorders. We have an immediate opening for an Art Therapist. EDTC is the largest and most experienced behavioral health practice in New Mexico devoted to the treatment of eating disorders, trauma, and related psychological issues. The use of Art Therapy as a treatment modality is a key component of our individual counseling, Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs for the treatment of eating disorders.
Position Overview -
This is an intermediate level position our Counseling Department. As an Art Therapist at EDTC you can expect to work with a caseload of up to 20 patients per week in addition to using art as a modality in group settings 2-3 nights a week. As a Counselor you must have training and experience to facilitate the employment of art to address psychological and emotional needs. You will have opportunities to represent EDTC in various advertising, networking, or marketing events.
Position Essential Job Functions -
Use the creative process and the resulting artwork in a variety of art media as a therapeutic and healing treatment modality.
Assist Clinical Staff as directed during Group Therapy Program Sessions, which may include leading skills or processing therapy sessions for any age level without assistance.
Assist Clinical Director or Senior Staff Clinicians as needed in preparation of program materials, researching clinical treatment modalities, preparation of clinical session notes, etc.
Provide individual counseling and therapy to clients and/or families or small groups.
Diagnose behavioral health symptoms and issues according to the currently accepted criteria (DSM-IV and/or DSM-5).

Schedule -
Flexible, some late afternoons and evenings required.
Hybrid w/remote allowed for some individual counseling sessions.
Full-Time or Part-Time available.
Position Requirements -
An art therapy specialty in an approved graduate degree program and credentialing as a Registered ArtTherapist in the state of New Mexico.
Licensed Professional ArtTherapist (LPAT) by the New Mexico Art Therapy Credentialing Board or Board Certification through the Art Therapy Credentials Board is preferred.
Master's Degree in one of the social sciences with expertise in one of the following areas of study, acceptable for Licensure as a Counselor or Social Worker in the state of New Mexico: Clinical Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
At a minimum, you must be licensed by the New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Practice Board, to practice as one of the following in the state of New Mexico:
LAMFT - Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
LMHC - Licensed Mental Health Counselor
LMSW -- Licensed Master Social Worker
LPC -- Licensed Professional Counselor
Independent professional licensure is preferable
Training and experience in treatment of eating disorder or trauma related diagnoses preferred.
